Many people have received calls without giving their consent. Some of these types of calls are called robocalls. Robocalls are made by an automated dialer that sends calls out to people to attempt to collect debt. A federal law called the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, or TCPA, has a set of rules for companies and people doing debt collections over the phone. The law makes it illegal for a collector to make prerecorded or artificial voice telemarketing calls (aka: robocalls) to residential numbers or autodialed, prerecorded, or artificial voice calls or texts to wireless numbers without first obtaining the prior express written consent of the recipient. Generally, that express written consent must have been given to the company that extended the credit or made the loan being collected on. The agency that is in charge of enforcing the TCPA against debt collectors gets thousands of complaints every year from people who are being harassed, possibly illegally.

If a collections company is making robocalls without consent, then the business may have to pay thousands of dollars in damages to the consumer. If you have received robocalls from debt collection companies and you feel like you have not given consent, please contact us. CONTACT US TO FIND OUT IF YOU HAVE A CLAIM at 424-245-5505.
