Hartford Auto Insurance UIM Settlement Offers Benefits or Refunds

Hartford auto insurance customers can receive additional underinsured motorist (UIM) benefits or premium refunds through a class action settlement. The settlement offers two options for eligible customers who had UIM coverage with Hartford.

UIM coverage helps pay for damages when another driver causes an accident but does not have enough insurance to cover all costs. The lawsuit involved how Hartford handled UIM coverage for its customers.

Class members have two settlement options available:

  • Receive additional UIM benefits based on their policy
  • Get a 23% refund on premiums paid for UIM coverage

The settlement allows eligible customers to choose whichever option provides more value for their situation. Customers who had Hartford auto insurance with UIM coverage during the relevant time period may qualify for benefits.

All claims must be submitted by May 22, 2026. This deadline is firm, and late submissions will not be accepted. Customers should review their Hartford auto insurance policies to determine if they had UIM coverage during the settlement period.

To file a claim, eligible customers need to submit proper documentation showing their Hartford auto insurance policy included UIM coverage. The settlement website will provide claim forms and instructions for the application process.

Hartford has not admitted wrongdoing in this settlement. The company agreed to resolve the lawsuit to avoid continued legal costs and uncertainty. Class members do not need to take any action to remain in the settlement unless they want to exclude themselves.

Customers who believe they qualify should gather their Hartford insurance policy documents and premium payment records. These documents will be needed to support their settlement claim and determine which option provides the best benefit.
