Civil Rights Violation

Tinder Pays $60.5M for Charging Older Users More Money

Tinder must pay $60.5 million to settle a big lawsuit. The dating app company allegedly committed a civil rights violation when it charged older users more money than younger users for the same services.

The lawsuit was about Tinder Plus and Tinder Gold. These are paid features that give users extra options on the dating app.

Tinder made older people pay higher prices for these same features. Younger users got the exact same services for less money. This is called age discrimination.

A class action lawsuit is when many people join together to sue one company. In this case, thousands of Tinder users who paid higher prices because of their age can get money back.

People who used Tinder Plus or Tinder Gold may be able to get money from this settlement. You might qualify if you were charged based on your age rather than getting the same price as everyone else.

This settlement confirms the civil rights violations when companies  charge different prices based on someone’s age. All customers should pay the same price for the same product or service.

Age discrimination in pricing is against the law in many places. This case might make other companies think twice before charging older customers more money.

If you used Tinder Plus or Tinder Gold and think you paid extra because of your age, you should watch for more details about this settlement. More information will come out soon about how to file a claim.
